First Assembly of God
Notasulga, Alabama
Welcome
Since 1950, First Assembly of God has been sharing the Good News about Jesus Christ
in Notasulga. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and for-
ever.” Today, we continue to share that same Good News - the everlasting gospel.
1 John 3:23 says, “And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of
His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.”
If you live in our area and don’t have a church home, we invite you to join us. If you
have not yet believed on the name of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Savior,
we’ll lead you to Him. If you are a Christian, we’ll help you grow in your faith and in
the love that binds us together.
Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you
rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

Bible Study
Our Sunday evening Bible Study is a casual, 1-hour gathering. Fresh coffee, fellowship,
and study of God’s Word. You don’t have to be a member of our church to attend - it is
open to everyone (that’s why we put the sign up facing Dollar General).
What We Believe
We are affiliated with the Alabama Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God. You
can check out the Alabama Ministry Network HERE, and the General Council of the
Assemblies of God USA HERE.
Our beliefs are in line with the Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths. A
quote from their website reads, “The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and prac-
tice. This Statement of Fundamental Truths is intended simply as a basis of fellowship
among us (i.e., that we all speak the same thing, 1 Corinthians 1:10; Acts 2:42.”
You can check out the 16 Fundamental Truths HERE.
Our Pastor
Robert May is our pastor. If you are from Notasulga, you probably know him and his
wife, Marshia. Robert was raised in Notasulga, and Marshia in Reeltown. They cur-
rently live about two blocks from the church facilities.
Robert served as a missionary to Mexico from 1988-2011. He was sent out as the first
missionary from Believers Church (now Fountain Gate Church), at the time located in
Opelika, and currently in Auburn. He pastored a full gospel church in Mexico for
twenty years, and served as administrator of the bilingual Christian school for
eighteen.
While we do not offer a Spanish service, Robert is always open to the opportunity to
share the Good News about Jesus in English or Spanish. If you know of anyone who
needs spiritual counseling in Spanish, call or text him at (334) 750-3593.
Christian Education
Besides serving as pastor of our church and as a police officer in our town, Robert,
along with Marshia, heads up a Christian homeschool cover ministry called
Saugahatchee Christian Academy. He has been involved with K-12 Christian education
since the mid-1980’s.
Now more than ever before, he and Marshia see the challenge that Christian parents
face in raising their children for God. It is evident that the devil has been targeting the
family, and especially children, for generations. The religion of secular humanism is
now an integral component of public school curriculum that is being forced on inno-
cent children.
Christian parents have a choice! Fortunately, the state of Alabama is very open in the
area of Christian education. If you or any Christian family that you know is interested
in exploring the options that are available, options that will literally open up to our
children a world of educational opportunities, check out their website HERE.
Promoting Health
One last thing that you need to know about Robert and Marshia (if you know them per-
sonally, you’ve probably already figured it out): they are passionate about taking care
of the body, as well as the soul and spirit.
Proverbs 12:18b says ”…the tongue of the wise promotes health.” 1 Corinthians 6:19
says, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”
They believe that, as Christians, we belong to God - every part of us - body, soul and
spirit. We don’t have the right to abuse our body any more than we have the right to
neglect our soul (mind, will and emotions) or our spirit.
They have been working for years to develop a diet and lifestyle plan to give the body
everything it needs to stay healthy for many years. John 10:10 says, “The thief does not
come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life,
and that they may have it more abundantly.”
The Abundant Life
Are you ready to start enjoying the abundant life? It starts with a right relationship
with God. Jesus said, “You must be born again.” If you’re not 100% sure that you are a
Christian, join us this Sunday, or go to another church where the gospel is preached,
and commit your life to Christ.
Check out Robert and Marshia’s personal website, may58.com for much, much more.
God bless you!
